I love North Carolina in the spring. Especially this spring. To unabashedly steal from Julie Andrews, “The halls are alive, with the sound of leftists.”

(Admit it: You can’t unhear that now, can you?)

In this case, the halls are legislative, and the sour note you hear is wailing and gnashing from the left. In recent weeks at our state legislature, I have…

  • Had the pleasure of watching NC Senator Natasha Marcus shed crocodile tears on the Senate floor as she lied about “children” killed by guns;
  • Enjoyed seeing Democrats march children into the legislative gallery as fodder for street theater against our bill to repeal pistol purchase permits … only to be immediately shut down by deft procedural maneuvering from Republican leadership;
  • Thrilled in watching transgender radicals scream “Murderers!” and “Genocide!” at House Health Committee members who nevertheless voted to ban gender reassignment surgery for children; and
  • Applauded abortion rights protesters who pressed their signs (and cute little mask-laden faces) against picture windows ringing a Rules Committee meeting, screeching “Abortion rights now!” just before said committee ignored them to pass what most consider a reasonable abortion law.

Ah, isn’t the North Carolina spring glorious?

But nothing beats wringing leftist tears from a newspaper opinion editor, in this case Ned Barnett of the Raleigh News & Observer…
