You only thought you had driven a stake through the hearts of Nina Jankowicz and her thoroughly Orwellian “Disinformation Governance Board.” Just in time for All Hallows Eve, however, The Undead arose from their coffins and resumed preying on the First Amendment.
Under intense pressure from both left and right, last summer the Department of Homeland Security delayed and then scrapped its scheme for the “DGB.” (Kinda’ sounds like “KGB,” doesn’t it?)
Citing leaked documents, an ongoing lawsuit and public documents, however, an October 31 article in The Intercept detailed continued efforts by DHS to coordinate suppression of free speech with popular social media platforms – all in the name of eliminating “disinformation,” of course.
Under color of targeting Russian disinformation campaigns, DHS has created a formal process for government officials to directly flag content on Facebook or Instagram and have it throttled or suppressed…
