If you think you can count on Republicans to prevent gun control from passing through Congress, you are wrong. . .

In fact, just within the last two weeks, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa told “The Hill” that he is acceding to demands by Democrat (and perennial gun banner) Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to hold hearings on “firearms accessories.”

The only way to stop squishy Republicans from rolling over on gun control is to let them know you're watching, and make sure they know what you expect from them. To accomplish this:

Dear [SENATOR / REPRESENTATIVE [NAME]]:

It is my understanding that there are Republicans in your chamber who are now promising to "cross the aisle" in order to enact new gun "safety" legislation, which of course is the new Orwellian moniker for gun "control." I am writing to inform you that gun control legislation of any kind is unacceptable.

Now more than ever, law-abiding citizens need to know that their representatives are standing for Constitutional rights, the very rights that are the only thing standing between us and a society that is entirely at the mercy of the wicked and the criminally insane.

Anti-gun zealots in D.C. will use any excuse to promote dangerous, freedom-killing legislation. They are bent on controlling the citizenry while feigning concern for our safety. We've had enough intellectual dishonesty, so be aware that gun control efforts by any name will be seen as anti-Second Amendment, and politicians will be scored as such come Election Day.

Don't be fooled. There is nothing to gain, and surely everything to lose by making deals with the anti-gun members of your chamber. Do not support, do not sponsor, and do not vote for any gun control "compromises."
