WINSTON-SALEM ENDANGERS PUBLIC TO PURSUE ANTI-GUN AGENDA

‘Dixie Classic Fair’ bans even armed law enforcement
The leftists controlling the City Council in Winston-Salem have long tried to ban guns wherever they can — whether they can do so legally or not. After GRNC shepherded passage of concealed carry in parks, we had to sue the city to get them to comply with state law and remove signs prohibiting concealed carry in parks.
Now in an apparent effort to re-create the tragedy of the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California, Winston-Salem, at its Dixie Classic Fair, is illegally prohibiting not only concealed carry by lawful permit-holders, but even armed off-duty law enforcement officers. Given the porous security in place at the fair, the resulting victim disarmament zone only serves to attract criminals and violent sociopaths. If the worst happens, rest assured that the leftists of the Winston-Salem City Council and Mayor Allen Joines will undoubtedly call for restrictions on your right to keep and bear arms.
Predictably, one Facebook page even describes an individual who went to the fair against his own better judgment, leaving his gun in his car, only to return and find his firearm stolen from his vehicle – something gun control advocates will also undoubtedly blame on gun owners.
The city falsely justifies its action by claiming that state law allows it to prohibit guns on city property, while neatly avoiding the fact that statewide firearm preemption only allows cities to ban guns “on local government buildings and their appurtenant premises” – not in whole fairgrounds.
Ironically, the Winston-Salem City Council is already under fire for voting to rename the Dixie Classic Fair in 2020 in what represents yet another leftist effort to eradicate southern heritage in the name of political correctness. So let Mayor Joines and the City Council know that not only will you be avoiding the Dixie Classic Fair, but that you will be avoiding spending money in Winston-Salem altogether for as long as the city continues its illegal efforts to restrict lawful concealed carry.

Suggested Subject: Stop endangering the innocent!
Dear Council Member
I am writing today to express my disagreement with your false belief that disarming the innocent will protect the innocent. The fact is that 94% Mass Public Shootings take place in so-called ‘gun-free’ zones. That is what you want to create at the fairgrounds and it will endanger the public.
Perhaps you are unaware of the other fact that by definition, criminals do not obey the law. Therefore, those who would be the first responder to any emergency will be disarmed by your misguided actions. Those who don’t abide by the law – better known as criminals – don’t care about violating your ineffective policies, just as they don’t care about violating the law.
The fence around the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California failed to keep out a criminal bent on mayhem, just as the fence around the fairgrounds will also fail to keep out any miscreants. This is why I will be taking the sensible action of avoiding both the fair and spending money in the city of Winston-Salem until you reverse this absurd and misguided virtue signaling. I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
