Primary election
February 29: Candidate filing deadline
April 13: Voter registration deadline (postmarked or hand-delivered)
April 17: Remember in November data on web site
April 19: One-stop voting begins
May 1: Absentee ballot requests due
May 7: Absentee ballots due*
May 8: Primary election (0630 – 1930 EDT)
Second primary (“runoff”) election**
June 28: One-stop absentee voting begins for the Second Primary Election, if needed (NCGS 163-227.2(b)); modified full-time county board offices shall remain open five days each week [NCGS 163-227.2(f)]
July 10: Last day to request absentee ballots in writing (exceptions due to sickness or disability)[NCGS 163-230.1(a)]
July 16: 5pm - Absentee ballots must be received in CBE office by 5:00 p.m. [NCGS 163-231(b)] If mailed, returned absentee ballots will still be timely if postmarked on or before Election Day, and received no later than 5:00 pm on July 20, 2012.
July 14: One-stop voting ends [NCGS 163-227.2(b)]
July 17: 2nd Primary Election - polls are open 6:30am - 7:30pm
