Sold Out

Recently, GRNC urgently warned you that Representative N. Leo Daughtry was poised to sell out gun owners, and it appears that he did just that. Indeed, Rep. Daughtry worked against Second Amendment rights by leading the charge to neuter *H562, and perhaps even send the bill to the Rules Committee, where bills go to die.

Now or Never

Now that gun owners know where Rep. Daughtry stands (in a non-election year), it remains to be seen if other Republicans will follow him. Will Speaker Moore, Representative Lewis and others stand with gun owners or will they take the summer soldier's route, and render an important gun bill toothless? The fact is, NOW is the time for House Republicans to align their legislative action with their campaign speeches.

TIME IS UP, AND IT'S

NOW OR NEVER FOR HOUSE REPUBLICANS

Republicans need to be reminded who gave them the supermajority they currently enjoy (voters like you). Below, see how you can easily send a message to Speaker Moore, Rep. Lewis, and all House Republicans to remind them who "brung 'em" to the dance. Let them know what you expect if they want continued support from gun rights supporters like you.

*H 562“Amend Firearms Laws.” This comprehensive bill would further open up the state fair to concealed handgun permit-holders, remove restrictions from educational properties, permit guns in locked vehicles at places of employment, remove CLEO discretion in signing BATFE paperwork for Title II firearms, authorize hunting with short-barreled rifles, and more.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE

Suggested Subject: "It's Now or Never on Gun Rights!"

Dear Speaker Moore and Representative Lewis:

Recently, it seems that Representative Daughtry sold out gun owners by removing the teeth from H562, and even threatening to send it to the Rules Committee to die. I am incensed over Rep. Daughtry's failure to do the right thing, but I still remain hopeful that you and the other Republicans will not follow the same path.

Republicans have the opportunity to align their legislative actions with their campaign speeches, but the clock is ticking on H562 and other pro-gun bills. It's now or never. I insist that you put an end to the gun-bill shell games, return H562 to its original form, and bring it to the floor for a vote.

Like many other North Carolinians, I am a pro-gun voter and am a large part of the reason that Republicans like you enjoy a supermajority in the General Assembly. I only ask that you act as you have promised to act on Second Amendment issues.

I will be carefully watching your actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,
