| Hi Kids!
Meet Durex
Jane!
[Editorial] The ever-leftist Jane Fonda, wife of media mogul Ted Turner, is
apparently no longer content amusing herself with hubby's last gift - the United Nations
(suitably wrapped in money, of course). Butting heads with Sen. Lauch
Faircloth, she has
now embarked on a campaign to trash the sexual abstinence education program which took
effect on October 1 as part of the 1996 Welfiare Reform Act.

 |
| "Abstinence
until marriage is based on an unreal world that isn't out there," she declared to
ABC-TV's "Good America." Fonda, promoting sex-ed as director of the Georgia
Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, encourages people to "make their voices
heard ... write their governor and congressmen." Like many post-60's leftists, however, Ms. Fonda has grown
up; her anti-abstinence message is being spoken for the "Truth For Youth"
campaign, a project of none other than the Durex condom company, makers of Sheik, Ramses, Avanti, and Gold Coin condoms ("Only the feeling gets through!"). Not that Durex would let its economic stake in the issue
affect its objectivity, mind you.
Columnist Kathleen Parker said it best:
"[H]aving Mr. Rubber teach our kids about sex is like having Joe Camel teach them
about health." Ummm, Kathleen? That's Ms. Rubber to you.
