Anti-Gunners Bringing D.C. Laws Here!
THIS JUST IN FROM THE ‘VICTIM
DISARMAMENT SESSION’ |
"Stolen Gun" Bill Would Prosecute
VICTIMS!
It's already law in NY, MA, OH, D.C., and RI,
Are we next? |
Displaying
stunning audacity, professional lobbyists for North
Carolinians ?Against Gun Violence? are shopping for
sponsors for legislation to subject YOU to criminal
prosecution if your guns are stolen.
You heard it right: YOU--the VICTIM of crime--would be
the one subject to prosecution, demonstrating clearly
that in this session of the General Assembly, anti-gun
politicians don't just want to disarm victims, but
prosecute them as well.
The lobbyists? sales pitch? That such laws exist in
places like New York and the District of Columbia'
places where their experiments in gun control have
actually promoted violent crime.
Properly called "The Prosecute Lawful Gun Owners Act,"
the bill would:
> Give you only 48 hours to file separate reports for
each firearm stolen.
> Cover not only known, but also unknown losses. For
instance, if you have your gun safe cleaned out by a
burglar and you report the 30 guns you remember, but
there was that one you forgot you had, you could be
held liable for that one because you "reasonably
should have known" it was stolen.
> Virtually require you to retain a pistol purchase
permit for each handgun stolen, creating a new pathway
to handgun registration.
Will you let this happen? While anti-gun lobbyists for
North Carolinians "Against Gun Violence," may not have
yet found a politician to introduce the bill, in the
current "Victim Disarmament Session" of the
legislature, they probably will.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE
----------------------------------------------------
Dear Representative:
Lobbyists seeking to undermine the right to keep and
bear arms are shopping for sponsors for legislation to
prosecute lawful gun owners whose guns are stolen.
The draft, which should properly be titled the
?Prosecute Lawful Gun Owners Act,? would punish the
*victims* of property crimes, rather than criminals
who commit those crimes, for failing to report the
theft of firearms they might not even know were
stolen.
Although gun owners would likely never know who
victimized them the first time by stealing their
property, when they next visit the polls they, their
family and their friends will remember the politicians
who added the insult to their injury by sponsoring and
voting for such an insidious bill.
I strongly urge you to not sponsor this bill and to do
everything in your power to make certain that it does
NOT get serious consideration in the North Carolina
House.
Sincerely,
A Concerned North Carolina Voter
