MILLER Signed on as Co-Sponsor - March 9.
H. R. 1022, introduced on Feb. 14, 2007 by
Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) has the
intention of reauthorizing the so-called ?Assault
Weapons? ban that you fought so hard to get rid of.
Only this time it will be far worse than the Clinton
gun ban of 1994.
H. R. 1022 (mockingly named after a popular sporting
caliber) will ban every gun covered under the Clinton
gun ban plus MILLIONS more! Will you let this happen?
Guns banned under this legislation include: Ruger
Mini-14s and 30s, semi-automatic center-fire rifles
holding more than 10 rounds, all semi-automatic
shotguns, all detachable-magazine semi-automatic
rifles, popular target rifles such as, AR-15s, M1A1s
and M1 Garands. Semi-automatic pistols holding more
than 10 rounds and frames, receivers and parts used to
repair or refurbish guns.
And there would be no sunset! Yes, it would be
PERMANENT!

Dear Representative:
H. R. 1022, introduced by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy is
simply unacceptable. The so-called ?assault weapons?
ban of the past did no good and likely was actually
harmful. This would be worse and I am not prepared to
accept this. There will be a price to be paid at the
ballot box for any member of Congress voting for this
atrocity to freedom.
Rep. McCarthy tilts at windmills in her belief that
banning guns will affect anyone besides the law
abiding. This is simply another step in her quest of
the eventual banning of all guns and will in effect
institute gun registration as part of this effort.
This is absolutely forbidden by the Second Amendment.
I strongly urge you to use all of your influence to
prevent this malicious bill from becoming law. Grass
Roots North Carolina will keep me informed on your
votes on this important issue.
