Your efforts in calling and emailing Senators regarding SB 680 have, at least for the time-being, prevented the Senate from re-attaching the anti-gun show language to SB 680. However, that's the only good news. Rather than passing a clean pro-gun bill, the NC Senate Leadership, under the direction of Democrat MARC BASNIGHT (D-Dare, GRNC 1-star), have decided to throw yet another road block in the path of gun owners.

SB 680, a bill to prevent abusive gun litigation, had been polluted with gun show restrictions. After the NC House cleaned it up by removing gun show language, Basnight's Senate is now refusing the bill a committee hearing. The message? Unless a bill contains gun control, Basnight doesn't want it heard.

SB 680 is bottled up in the Senate Judiciary II Committee, which is also sitting on HB 442 (a bill to establish reciprocity for concealed carry permit holders between states), HB 622 (a CLEAN bill to prevent abusive gun litigation), and HB 842 (a bill to exempt CCH permit holders from handgun purchase permit requirements). The J-II Committee is chaired by anti-gun Sen. KAY HAGAN (D-Guilford, GRNC 0-star).

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

bulletContact your NC Senator and tell them you want to see House Bills 442, 622, and 842 passed, and remind them that HB 622 is a far better vehicle for preventing abusive gun litigation than is SB 680.
bulletContact Senate leader Marc Basnight and politely remind him you don't want WORDS about his claimed support for gun rights, you want ACTIONS-specifically a hearing for House Bills 442, 622, and 842.
bulletContact Sen. KAY HAGAN and politely demand committee hearings House Bills 442, 622, and 842.

State and national gun control organizations are using the hysteria brought about by the terrorist incidents to justify not only closing the non-existent "gun show loophole," but also registering ALL private transfers of firearms. Remind your Senator that terrorists used mere box cutters that any 12 year old could buy at a K-Mart to kill thousands of Americans in the World Trade Center, and they have used microscopic bacteria that can grow on goat skins to shut down the Nations Capitol and kill innocent postal workers. It is shameful but not surprising that the gun banners would take advantage of the tragedies that have occurred to try to further their personal vendetta against the Second Amendment.

DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!
